KalPa Hockey
KalPa is a traditional ice hockey team from Kuopio, Finland, founded in 1929 and focused on ice hockey since the 1950s. The road through Finnish Liiga hasn’t always been easy – KalPa has also played in lower divisions – but since 2005, the team has been a regular playoff contender. Highlights include a CHL playoff appearance and Liiga silver in 2016–2017, and a semifinal spot in 2023–2024.
The biggest milestone came in 2024–2025, when KalPa won the Finnish Championship, becoming the reigning champions of Liiga. It’s a proud moment for Kuopio and a testament to years of hard work and growth.
KalPa has produced NHL stars like Kimmo Timonen, Olli Jokinen, and Sami Kapanen, and today continues to develop top talent like NHL players Eetu Luostarinen and Kasperi Kapanen.
Come experience elite Finnish hockey – welcome to Olvi Areena, home of the champions!
